かつては水源の神「大水上神」が祀られてい た大水上神神社、その社殿の側から伸びる参道を進んだ先に「千五百皇子社」はある。伊邪那岐命（いざなぎのみこと）を祀っており、社名の「千五百」は、伊邪那岐命(イザナギ)と伊邪那美命(イザナミ)が離縁する際にかけ合ったセリフに起因します。 The shrine is located at the end of the approach to the Omizukami Shrine, where Omizukami, the god of water sources, used to be enshrined.
